This is the main beach at Papagayo, simply called Playa Papagayo (Papagayo means parrot). As you can see, it was quite crowded in mid August 2008. There is a small cafe and bar here. By the building work, which was going on, the facilities looked certain to expand.
Most other beaches have no retail experiences at all, - no toilets, cafes or shops, but are therefore much quieter. There is no shade on these beaches either, so you may want to pack a parasol.
