The Marina Rubicon, near Playa Blanca is much like any other marina you may have visited. Very pretty, but very artificial: you could be at any marina anywhere in Europe. The place seemed characterless to us.
A little further north from Marina Rubicon, are the stunning beaches of Papagayo and only a couple of kilometres south is the third largest of the island's main resorts, Playa Blanca.
Approximately 15km west of the resort is the Timanfaya National Park: home to spectacular lava fields and volcanic mountains.
