To the north of the resort of Playa Blanca is the newly developed, very exclusive, Marina Rubicon. This tastefully designed, purpose built marina is home to some very exclusive shops and restaurants with a pricing structure to match! Very pretty, but very artificial: you could be at any marina anywhere in Europe. The place seemed characterless to us. A little further north from Marina Rubicon, are the stunning beaches of Papagayo and only a couple of kilometres south is the third largest of the island's main resorts, Play Blanca. Approximately 15km west of the resort is the Timanfaya National Park: home to spectacular lava fields and volcanic mountains.
