Monumento al Campesino and Casa Museo del Campesino, Lanzarote
Campesino means countryman or farmer.

The monument and museum, close to San Bartolome, in the centre of the island are more creations of Cesar Manrique and a tribute to the farmers of Lanzarote. Manrique believed farmers and peasants who worked the land, to be the backbone and foundation of civilisation. He built a 15m tall, white cubist monument from old farm equipment, fishing boats and water tanks, as a tribute to them and created a courtyard of traditional old, farm buildings in dazzling white and green. In many of these are craftsmen and women, working at traditional crafts, which you can watch. We saw weaving and shoe making and visited the gift shop. We were disappointed not to get a table in the cavernous, underground restaurant, but managed a passable tapas on the ground floor.
